Books are such good gifts. We can teach our kids that books are wonderful gifts by exposing them to books from an early age and showing joy over receiving one.

Our grandchildren have so many books, possibly too many books….. but is that really possible? Can you have too many books, especially children’s books- my favorites? And right now, they really do get excited about new books and about books they are familiar with. I love to hear them read along or complete a phrase. It’s so darn cute when THEY start “reading” the books to us, which is happening quite a bit now. The story line may be a tad different, but what they are learning and creating is amazing to witness.

As preschools start, a book can be a useful and sweet gift for the teacher. As school starts, a book for the teacher could be a fun addition to the classroom set. To mark the start of a new school year, a book as a gift for our own children could be a tradition we establish.

For birthday gifts, a book is a lasting gift that children don’t outgrow or wear out. It provides learning now and memories for a lifetime. Some of the books we are now reading to the grands are over 30 years old and are books that I read to my children! And there are actually a few artifacts from MY childhood in the mix.

May I suggest a book that teaches our children that they are created by and loved by God, for a purpose? It’s personalized at the end, where you can write your child’s name into the story. And, if you’re interested in teaching Spanish to your littles, on each page the story is told in English and in Spanish.
