Thank you, Lord, for leading me to this process. Thank you, Hope*Books, for guiding me through it. And, thank you, family and friends, for your support during this writing/publishing process!
When I retired from teaching five years ago, I felt the prompting to write some faith-based children’s books. Since the scientific evidence behind creation has been compelling in my faith, I wanted to start with a book about creation.
I created a little series called THE ONE: The One Who Created, The One Who Promised, The One Who Forgives, The One Who Provides, and The One Who Loves. The first book, The One Who Created, was just published and is available on Amazon and at BarnesandNoble.com!
My hope with all of these weekly blogs and Instagram posts are to help parents/grandparents lead their littles in faith, using books! It’s simple. It can be effective. It can plant seeds and establish a faith foundation, preparing our littles for the battles ahead they will surely face.
Sitting down and reading books about Jesus to our littles makes a difference. Being intentional about pointing our littles to Christ is essential to building a lasting foundation rooted in Christian principals. This scripture is on my website, Booking Time with Kids:
Deuteronomy 6:6-9
These words I am commanding you today are to be upon your hearts. / And you shall teach them diligently to your children and speak of them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. / Tie them as reminders on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. ...
It’s both our responsibility and our privilege to teach our littles about God and things eternal. If you’re looking for ideas on books and reading strategies that can help with this, please check out my website at ninawheeling.com: Booking Time with Kids!
And, if you’re wanting a book that starts at the very beginning (like creation!) please consider buying THE ONE WHO CREATED. The story has rhyme and rhythm, is personalized, and is told in both English and Spanish! The back cover ends with this: Told in English and Spanish, this warm bedtime story invites families to pause, wonder, and worship together- celebrating God’s creativity and the truth that HE made everything, including you.
Thanks for reading! Please share and subscribe for a weekly idea of how we can use books to help our kids~
