Why do we think we have to CHOOSE between believing that dinosaurs existed and the Bible?   The answer for many of us is most likely the fact that we were never exposed to any information or evidence that links faith with science.

Many of us grew up thinking that what we learned in school about dinosaurs didn’t match what we learned in Sunday School or in Bible teachings.  Personally, I believed that somehow “God created” and that dinosaurs also existed, based on fossils all over the earth.  But I had NO IDEA how these two events fit together.  They seemed to be in conflict.  I THOUGHT that the evidence of dinosaurs was limited to science and that the evidence of the Bible was rooted only in faith.

Many of us were only exposed to the theory of evolution as far as the “beginning of life” and creation.  The theory of evolution suggests that life, including that of the dinosaurs, existed and evolved millions of years ago.  The theory of creation suggests that life, also including that of the dinosaurs, came into existence thousands of years ago, by design.  And there is scientific evidence to support this.

So, why aren’t we exposed to this information?  Why do we have to seek it out, and why is this important as believers?

It’s important for us as Christians to understand the Truth of the Bible, a book that is God-breathed, inspired by the Holy Spirit and to be able to defend it:

“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16–17).

We were recently given the opportunity to visit the Creation Museum in Northern Kentucky.  This is a ministry I have been intrigued by and learning from for many years:  I was completely amazed by the experience and would highly recommend it.  There were literally people from all over the world, seeking to understand the Truth within God’s Word, to understand God the Creator, and God the Master Scientist.

On the first page of their website, the words PREPARE TO BELIEVE are bold and challenging.  On that same page are these words:

“Two Models:

Creationists and evolutionists share the same data. We study the same fossils, trees, and stars. We observe the same world, but we reach different conclusions because we have different starting points. Each worldview develops its own models to explain the data… Not all science is the same, and how you view the evidence is shaped by your worldview.

Start planning your trip to the Creation Museum to learn more about how observational science confirms the Bible—the most reliable dating method—in our Starting Points exhibit”  (creationmuseum.org).

If we dig deeper into their resources, we find evidence of dinosaur-like creatures mentioned in the Bible.  The words behemoth (Job 40:15-25) and leviathan (Biblestudy.org) are mentioned in the Old Testament!

Creationists support the discovery of dinosaur bones.  Finding dinosaur bones buried in rock layers laid down by water all over the earth is a testimony of the global Flood that happened during Noah’s day … The evidence we see on earth, including dinosaur fossils, always confirms the truth of the Bible (creationmuseum.org/dinosaurs-dragons-bones).

As we BOOK TIME WITH OUR KIDS, let’s help them establish a worldview rooted in faith … and to be able to defend that faith.  Let’s seek and support resources that support what we believe in and Who we believe in.  There is no conflict for believers between faith and science.  The evidence of design and creation literally surrounds us; the Master Scientist has provided clear evidence that we can access to lead our littles in faith.  So, let’s.

John 1:3: All things were made through Him, and without Him was not anything made that was made.
